Job Mission

The mission is to proactively facilitate partnering with the business and ensure employee relations are well conducted

KPA Duties

Key Tasks:
•Develop the strategy for the HR function in the MTN OPCO in line with global best practice in order to ensure that the organization is viable both internally and externally and as a social and financial entity
•Develop and implement a comprehensive; integrated and effective Human Resource management framework
•Align the HR direction with functional strategies and direction in order to ensure that the workforce are well positioned to meet the demands of the organizational goals and business plan
•Provide leadership and management with the visibility; control and decision support required to understand and manage the HR division; as well as provide the team with the expertise to build the human resource capabilities in order to drive effectiveness and efficiencies within the team
•Prepare the annual human resource work plan and ensure the effective execution thereof in order to ensure the business objectives are achieved
•Establish and monitor performance benchmarks for HR in order to ensure ongoing effectiveness of the division
•Build and manage high value external HR management support organizations in order to position the company to meet the objectives of the business plan and company strategy
•Develop a customer centric HR organization; with dedicated single point of contact to business decision makers and employees in order to provide best practice service and guidance to the internal customers
•Structure HR to minimize costs while maintaining quality line support in order to meet the business needs to run lean
•Provide an advisory and consultative service on all aspects of Human Resources; including but not limited to ER; IR; Recruitment and Selection; Remuneration; Health and Well Being; Working Life and Health and Safety in order to guide the operational management team on workforce management principles
•Deploy HR Policies and Processes and Implementation of HR programs in order to drive compliance within the business to legislative guidelines; company policies and rules •Ensure OPCO compliance with local labour laws in order to improve staff moral and reduce company exposure
•Ensure optimum utilisation of HR Information Systems for administration and reporting in order to stream line processes
•Implement Human Performance Improvement initiatives in order to drive a continuous improvement philosophy
•Prepare and implement a resource and succession plan for the organization in order to drive consistency in business performance and meet employment equity targets
•Ensure accessibility of HR personnel and information to line managers and employees in order to meet the requirements of the service level agreements
•Prepare; monitor and control the annual departmental budget to ensure expenditure is in line with the business plan. Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Tasks:
•Ensure that the team is led; motivated and rewarded to achieve the business objectives
•Possess the authority; presence and integrity to command respect from colleagues and from external contacts
•Provide clear direction and communicate the implication and interdependencies of each functional unit
•Set goals for direct reports; monitor progress and maintain motivation

Requirements

Education:
•Tertiary Human Resource Qualification
•Post graduate degree
•10 years Human Resource Management experience; experience in environment of rapid and continuous change; excellent understanding of the end to end HR function
Knowledge:
•Accuracy, consistency, reliability, and rapport with clients/colleagues.
•Establishing and Displaying Personal Credibility, demonstrates core behaviours, such as
•HR Analysis, Intelligence and Reporting, collecting management information and generating management reports regarding the state of people management in the organisation and people’s contribution to the success of the organisation; as well as ensuring the timely preparation and submission of compulsory people management reports as required by legislation
•HR Technology - Leverage technology for HR practices and web based channels to deliver value
•Knowledge and understanding of business fundamentals in which the firm / business unit operates
•Organisational effectiveness skills, including change management, leadership and culture management, performance management, organisational diagnostics & solutions development
