Core Network Planning Manager
Ghana , Accra
Job Mission
•To provide Strategic and Operational Leadership to ensure the efficient and effective planning of the core GSM/3G voice network in line with the business requirements (required timelines, budget constraints and quality standards). Systems include MSC, HLR, SGSN, GGSN, SSW, MGW, etc.)
•To manage the design and planning of a sustainable, future-proof core network, this includes core voice and data switching systems that support the present and future subscriber base of MTN GH.
• To map out a technology roadmap for technological migration in line with global technology trends.
KPA Duties
Strategic Planning •Ensure future proof Core network design to guarantee deliverables are met according to customer requirements both internal and external •Active participation in WECA expansion and growth
•Translate MTNGH’s Business plan and subscriber growth assumptions into : oRequirements for the Core Network oRequirements for the IP Network
•Strategically drive the Design and plan for cost efficient/least cost core, to support rollout with a 5+ year time horizon taking cognizance of technology developments. Capacity Planning and network architectural design
•Maintains capacity and functionality requirements timeously and ahead of traffic for the PS Core, CS Core network elements.
•Development of policies on the deployment of selected equipment •Approve detailed Product and Service design (route sizes, etc.)
•assigning of resources
•approve equipment configurations to be ordered from supplier(s) including cost control
•Ensures that all the licensing requirements are met and controls budget directly related to any upgrades or licensing requirements Vendor management
•Participate as technical lead in all procurement negotiations with vendors
•Select vendors based on technical expertise and ability to rollout Core network Rollout •Oversee Rollout of the core network oEnsure on time planning and designs are released oOversee and drive rollout, installation and integration of new nodes and systems Core Network Performance
•Oversee, drive and manage network performance in the core areas
•Provide weekly and monthly reporting on performance Staff Skill and Competencies
•Oversees the issues relating to resource requirements to complete critical design, planning and process tasks
•Oversee IPF and IDP processes of direct and indirect reports
•Recruits, develops, and retains people with outstanding potential
•Motivates staff
•Accountable for development of talent - builds strong and deep skills.
•Communicates actively throughout Core Planning group
Requirements
B Degree or National Technical Diploma with relevant experience
Over 8 years in Telecommunications (GSM advantageous, core standards, protocols and applications essential. Basic financial understanding. Leading cross-functional project teams, with at least 2 years at management level.
