The Position
The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa is an International Baccalaureate World School located on the east coast of Kenya. The Academy seeks to provide students of all backgrounds, from primary to higher secondary school, with an education of the highest standard in order to prepare them for lives characterised by leadership and service. All 3 IB programmes are offered to students.
We invite applications from qualified registered teachers with substantial teaching experience for the following teaching posts. Candidates having familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes will be particularly welcome.
Dean of Studies/Assistant Principal Senior School (Senior Management position)
The Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following profile:
Required Attributes
University degree in education
Substantial (3 years minimum) and successful teaching experience
Commitment to the co-curricular life of the school
Valued Attributes
Experience in International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum ( 5-10 years for position 1 and up to 5 years for position 2-8)
Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
Experience working in the developing world
Experience with residential programmes is an advantage
Other Position-specific Attributes:
Applicants for the Dean of Studies / Assistant Principal Senior School position should have 5 to 10 years of experience in secondary education with a demonstrable track record as a specialist of best practice teaching and learning strategies. Previous IB experience is required. Experience with residential programmes is an advantage. Applicants with broader senior experience are also encouraged to apply.
