Job Title: Pharmacist Advisor, Niger
Reports to: Health Coordinator

Job Purpose
To conduct an evaluation component of our internal operating procedures for the management of drugs and consumable, in making recommendations for improving the internal system within SAVE and also way forwards to assist the health district improving their system.
Key accountabilities
1. At Organisation level:
1.1. To assess the existing mechanisms for programme needs assessment in relation to drugs, medical equipments and consumables;
1.2. To develop a proper system for estimating the annual needs for medicines in SC supported health facilities;
1.3. To develop a document/guideline detailing the internal system for placing orders/request, management and monitoring of drugs including all other logistics.
2. At the Health District level (HD):
2.1. To establish at the district level a monitoring system for drug consumption/utilisation by each of the supported facility that is being supported by SC within the operation area;
2.2. To train key staff from both SC and the health district teams for the management of drugs and consumables;
2.3. To ensure that the District staff are trained in assessing the needs of health facilities and in developing procedures for drugs order and their management through utilisation of cost recovery funds generated by each health centres;
2.4. To develop a document detailing the system of internal control and management of medicines
2.5. To ensure that Key players in the chain of command of drugs are trained in the existing procedures;
2.6. To develop a safety stock of medicines at Niamey level and the procedures for handling and managing the said.
2.7. To provide training for those involved in pharmacy management districts SAVE helps put in place at all districts supported.
2.8. To develop a mechanism for following up and monitoring of the various recommendations.
2.9. To train staff with a longer term focus or for the implementation of the designated management system of the drug at districts supported.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
1. Hold a degree in pharmacy or equivalent in PH;
2. Have experience in managing drug supply systems and consumables;
3. Have experience in the management of pharmacies at national or decentralized;
4. Have experience working with technical assistance agencies, particularly in NGOs for a minimum of 2 years;
5. Preferably fluent in both French (working and communication) and English (reporting).
