The Position
The Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam has embarked on a major expansion (Phase 2 Development) that will see the development of tertiary-level services, which will include a comprehensive cardiology programme, oncology services, neurosciences, orthopaedics & trauma, diagnostic imaging, critical care, and obstetrics.

This is a pivotal role in which the Project Manager (PM) who will function as the clients representative, will lead the planning and execution of all phases of the project work plan as it relates to construction and redevelopment of existing facilities and ensure that these are according to established deadlines and within budget. Essential areas of responsibilities will include:
Developing and maintaining the full scope of Phase 2 project plan;
Managing the project schedule, risks, budget and the project team;
Working closely with the commissioning group and other stakeholders in commissioning and handover of the project;
Developing a system to ensure safety at work.
Responsibilities
Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support AKHD's Phase 2 objectives in collaboration with Project Core Team, AKHST, senior management and stakeholders. Identify, report, and monitor project dependencies, risks and critical path analysis, and recommend strategies and contingency plans to CEO and/or related internal/external stakeholders.
Develop and lead an effective on-site AKHD project team to oversee full scope of the project. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members.
Coordinate activities and liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants in the planning and preparation of the construction and implementation schedule. Ensure strict adherence to timelines, labor deployment, payment and deliverables set out therein.
Be responsible for firming up drawings, specifications, BOQ and integrating these into one document for tendering.
Monitor the project's costs to ensure accurate quality and financial standing within established budgetary parameters.
Read, interpret, analyze and forecast a project's cost reports and determine the status of the job in terms of schedule and costing.
Conduct regular project meetings, bi-weekly or monthly, or as needed with CEO, Finance and other stakeholders in the project. Effectively communicate project expectations, plans and associated communication strategy.
Synthesize numerous sources of data and key analysis, and translate/summarize into professionally written format for specific actions.


The Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following profile:
Designation of Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM).
Degree in one or multiple disciplines: Business with some level of Project Management emphasis, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other related area.
Experience of 5+ years in construction project management/supervision of large-scale (US $25 million +) healthcare based project, and/or engineering and/or architectural design processes related to building construction.
Excellent high-level business communication skills ' both written and verbal
Extensive experience in preparing and vetting of construction/consultant contracts including financial/costing/budget planning.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
Excellent collaborative, interpersonal and relationship building skills in cross-functional teams.
